My name is Rose, I live in Norwich and I have been working with young people in non-school education settings since 2016. My sessions are always responsive to the needs of the specific young person, whether I`m running a primary maths workshop at an advertising museum, improving Year 7 literacy skills in an art gallery or spending the weekend with young people from different schools making picture books to increase confidence and communication skills.

I struggled with communication skills and self-confidence as a teenager, and this experience now drives me support young people to get their ideas heard. No matter the subject or topic, I always ensure the participants understand that their ideas and experiences are important and deserve to be shared and celebrated.

Alongside my creative work with young people, I am a published children`s picture book writer and illustrator and undertake writing residencies and projects with museums and galleries. I am a mum to a lovely toddler, and have a passion for Early Years communication and language development.

Career:

Between 2016 and 2019, I worked full time at museums and galleries in London and Norfolk managing schools engagement, leading curriculum-focused workshops for young people and running CPD sessions for teachers and tutors.
From 2019, I went part time in the Schools team at a University gallery to begin freelancing part time creating picture books, developing and designing educational resources for galleries and heritage centres, and delivering in-person and online workshops with young people.

I now freelance full time, balancing working with young people, picture book commissions, educational resources and looking after my little one.
