I have been a teacher for over 20 years. I have experience working in the Jamaica and the UK. I am a qualified teacher in the Uk with a Bachelors of Education in Primary Education. I have completed courses such Read Write Inc, Reading Recovery, Behaviour Management, Marking, Assessment and Moderation, Understanding Autism, Pearson Mathematics and Comprehension, Differentiated Approach to Teaching and Learning and I use this knowledge to support all learners no matter their ability and believe that all children can learner but not at the same pace as other. I also firmly believe that one size does not fit all.
Since September 1, 2015 I have been a teacher at Rosedale Primary School. As a classroom teacher, planning and preparing lesson, working collaboratively with colleagues, support children of various ability as they learn. I have also gained phonics results for my class from 84% to 100%. I am flexible and dynamic and I am able to assess learners and deliver lessons to ensure they learn and become resilient and confident learner. I also have experience tutoring online and face to face.

Experience: I have been a teacher for over 20 years both in the UK and Jamaica. I am presently teaching Year 1 in the UK since 2015. I am able to provide differentiated instructions for children I work with. I have worked with children from EAL and SEND background, improving phonetic. reading and comprehension skills. My 23 years of experience working in the field of education has enabled me to develop a wide range of practical skills. I am very creative, optimistic and hardworking. I enjoy sourcing materials that make learning interesting and fun. I am an intrinsically motivated individual who work well with others. I enjoy motivating and inspiring individuals to work towards maximizing their potential, so they can be successful in any task given. I believe that education is one of the greatest mediums which can be used to encouraged individuals to believe in themselves thus building self-confidence. I also believe children’s ability can be enhanced holistically when the learning environment created is conducive. My desire to impart my knowledge and the excitement I see on children’s faces as they succeed on their learning journey gives me the boost to happily embrace challenges and provide the support needed by each learner.

Through my role as Class Teacher I have completed personal research and professional courses that enables me to promote high educational standards which raises the quality of my teaching and learning outcomes of the students I teach. With these developments I am able to use in-depth knowledge of children’s learning patterns and recognise their learning styles to set targets.
