Information about Gitte
I can help you or your child improve their English skills for GCSE, Functional Skills or EFL/IELTS
- as a friendly, patient and professional tutor who strives to get the best possible results for each and every student I teach.
I am a KS5 English lecturer at college teaching GCSE English language and Functional Skills. I am also mother of two girls who are currently in year 7 and 10. I have worked with children for most of my life, as a tutor, childminder and now as a teacher. I have also worked in online marketing for some years before becoming a teacher.
I am originally from Denmark, but have lived, studied and worked in England for 19 years. I have also tutored children between 3-14 from Danish and Danish/British mixed families in conversational and written Danish as well as Danish grammar.
I live alone with my two daughters, but we have sometimes in the past had international language students under 18 years of age staying with us over the summer.
I am DBS checked and love working with young people.
Availability: July & August 2017: very flexible and can do almost any day and time.
From September 2017: Monday-Friday evenings from 5.30 pm + weekends.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I teach English GCSE and Functional Skills at college for students retaking English. This means I am very aware of the challenges young people have in passing or excelling when taking their English exams at school. I also have a L5 accreditation in developing subject knowledge and understanding for GCSE English Language.
I am also a Cambridge CELTA trained English tutor and able to teach English as an additional/foreign language.
I have also worked with a lot of students with other barriers to learning such as ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and others. I have experience in teaching deaf learners with BSL as their first or additional language.
Previously, I have also tutored younger learners in a variety of KS2 and KS3 subjects.
