The University of Manchester
Masters in Physics
Information about Neil
I have a First class Masters degree in Physics from the University of Manchester. I`ve been tutoring on and off for nearly fifteen years in maths, physics and programming, from KS3 to GCSE to A-Level.
Alongside tutoring, I work as a software developer, as a public speaker and I`ve published two books. I also give humorous talks in schools about mental health. All of these skills come together to help make me a better tutor.
I like working with students consistently as it enables us to collaborate in discovering how the student prefers to learn and to tailor sessions to them - working together to make the sessions both more enjoyable and more practically useful.
Availability: I`m flexible, and open to discussion to find a mutually convenient time. In general I can be free most weekday evenings, and even most weekday daytimes if that is more helpful.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: As well as private one-on-one tutoring, I have experience teaching directly in schools. While at university I participated in the Student Associate Scheme, helping at the science department of Sale Grammar School as a teaching assistant. I also worked as a weekly tutor for pupils aged 11-16 at a drop-in session on mathematics.
After university I spent two years as a youth worker. These days I give humorous talks in schools about mental health, as well as tutoring students privately in maths, physics and web development.
