Information about Catherine
Hi, my name is Cath and I am a qualified Spanish and French teacher. I have taught in Secondary schools in the Leeds/Bradford area since 1992 and have also worked as an associate Lecturer for the Open University where I taught Spanish to adult learners. I now work with both young people and sometimes adults to improve their level in French and Spanish whether for examination purposes, work requirements or simply for the pleasure of learning and speaking another language.
I use material which is up to date and engaging for the particular needs of the learner and I adapt my lessons to suit the different learning styles of my students.
I have a thorough knowledge of the GCSE and A level requirements for the various examination boards used (AQA,EDEXCEL,IGCSE and EDUQAS) GCSE and am therefore able to focus on what an individual student needs to improve their level and achieve their optimum result in GCSE, or at A Level. .
From 2015 till 2020 I worked as a visiting examiner for A level French which involved going into schools and conducting the A level speaking component of the exam.
I mainly do face to face lessons either in my home or in a student`s home, however, I am also happy to do online tuition.
Availability: I do my tuition either in the evening or during the day on weekdays

Cath is very nice and proving to be a great tutor. She is very punctual and organised and well prepared. She spends at least an hour with my son and not a minute of learning time is wasted. She has done more than required by providing additional information for my son to support his learning. He is certainly making progress with her.

Our daughter Ava 16 yrs has had 3 x 1 hour sessions, the last being online. Catherine is well prepared and makes contact with Ava before the session to identify any specific areas to cover. Catherine has a no nonsense let`s get on with it style and we are confident that Ava will make big strides into her French A level course with Catherine`s help. Early days but confident given her style of teaching, obvious depth of knowledge of the subject and exam criteria.

Cath is an excellent tutor. She has worked hard with my son to help him with his GCSE Spanish. She is very positive in her approach and his knowledge and confidence have grown. She clearly knows the GCSE syllabus well and is very conscientious and professional.

Firstly Cath is a really lovely lady, which I think helps enormously when learning something new! She makes you feel completely comfortable and is an absolute professional. My Spanish was zero and after a few lessons I feel so much more confident about learning Spanish. If Cath can teach me, she can teach anyone!
She is very patient and has some superb learning materials. I can tell she has spent a long time in the teaching profession because this lady knows what she is doing.I really look forward to my lessons with Cath (not always the homework!) but she doesn`t put you under any pressure at all. I`d definitely recommend Cath to anyone wanting to learn a new language, she is great!

Catherine is well prepared , warm , friendly and really knows her subject . My 14 year old son clicked with her immediately . I wouldn`t hesitate to recommend her to anyone . We are very lucky to have met her !
