I am a highly qualified and extensively experienced Secondary English Teacher and Head of English (DBS checked) with 38 years of teaching experience in both London Comprehensives (20 years) and International Schools (13 years) specialising in preparing students for English GCSE and A Level / IB exams in both Language and Literature. In addition, I now have 4 years’ experience of one to one personalised individual private tuition. I offer a bespoke service with carefully designed and resourced personalised lessons tailored specifically to your son/daughter’s individual needs. I can assess the ability, needs and potential of your son/daughter very quickly so that all teaching is as productive and effective as possible. My approach is structured and rigorous setting high standards and using a variety of strategies designed to maximise progress and develop full potential leading to outstanding exam success. I am used to working with students across a wide range of abilities and from diverse cultures with English as either a first or second language.I am particularly skilled in boosting confidence, improving exam technique’ and dealing with anxiety/stress issues. Learning and making progress is a positive and enjoyable experience under my guidance leading to excellent exam results. My students have always found me extremely patient, committed and caring, and have always enjoyed my teaching as well as achieving impressive exam results.

Experience: 38 years of English teaching in both London Comprehensives (20 years) and International Schools (13 years) - as well as 5 years of individual private tuition. I have taught both GCSE and A Level in both Language and Literature as well as IB courses and IGCSE.I have taught locally at Cranford Community School (7 years) and Hatch End High School in Harrow (10 years) holding the position of Head of English in both these schools, and my most recent position before taking up private tuition was Head of English at the International School of Monaco (2011 - 2015). I am currently specialising in providing high quality tuition for the new AQA English GCSE courses in both Language and Literature as well as delivering tuition for other Exam boards - notably Cambridge CIE, Edexcel, OCR, and Welsh Board WJEC. All private tuition students have achieved excellent exam results to date.
