Information about Sarah

I am a qualified Primary Teacher who is from Cheshire, currently living in Manchester. I am eager to help students who require tutoring in all the primary subjects. I have a bachelors degree in Primary Education with QTS and three A levels in Geography, English Language and Art and 9 GCSEs (all grades A and B). I have 3 years of experience teaching children with a huge range of abilities, aged 2-18 years old, in Cheshire and Sheffield Primary Schools.
I am currently a mental health youth worker in a children`s charity and using my experience in therapy and counselling, I am incorporating this into my tutoring.
I am a chatty, organised and enthusiastic teacher/ tutor and I strive to help every student I meet.

Availability: I am currently unable to offer tutoring due to my full time role.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have 3 years of teaching experience, working as a primary teacher in Sheffield and Cheshire. I have taught reception, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 and taught all other year groups in supply work too. I also have Special Educational Needs experience working with students aged 11-18 years old at a secondary special school, for students with moderate learning difficulties. My most recent teaching post at a primary school in Northwich involved a mixture of online and in person learning. Parents and the headteacher were impressed by my excellent communication, rapport with the children and ability to progress my class of 30 Year 5 students, ranging from nursery ability to year 5 greater depth (meaning some children were able to access Year 6 + content).

I am passionate about all subjects and helping children achieve their academic and social potential. I have worked countless times with students who need 1-1 support. In Summer 2015, I worked in a North American summer camp, teaching children aged 5-15 Art & Crafts for 3 months. I enjoy running, I am currently teaching myself the keyboard and love animals.

My current role as a mental health youth worker in a children`s charity involves using counselling, therapy and coaching skills to help young people aged 8-18 to overcome barriers, deal with trauma and manage emotions such as anxiety, anger and social communication.
