Information about Amanda

I am a final year medical student at Imperial College London. I am bilingual in English and Danish. I am happy to teach up to GCSE level in maths and sciences, and also coach prospective medical students in personal statement writing, interview technique and BMAT/UKCAT preparation.

Academics: I attended St Paul`s Girls` School in London. I achieved 8A*s 2As at GCSE (including Spanish, German, Latin, history), one A at AS level (Spanish) and 3A*s at A level (chemistry, maths, biology). Last year I completed my BSc in Medical Sciences with Surgery and Anaesthesia, where I won the prize for the top results in exams.

My teaching style is friendly and relaxed, and I will adapt my learning style appropriately to the student . For medical school preparations I am willing to do mock interviews, help the student prepare answers to common questions and improve confidence. I am also willing to help students create an appropriate personal statement.

Availability: I will be available to start tutoring from August onwards. Mostly available evenings and weekends but I am flexible.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I was a volunteer teaching assistant at Addison Primary School to help with reading and maths when I was a student at St Paul`s Girls` School.

Since I have been at Imperial College I have done teaching sessions with younger medical students on the course and run revision sessions with doctors to prepare students for exams.

I have spent a lot of my spare time entering hackathon competitions to develop medical innovations and pitch them to judges. This has improved my confidence in public speaking greatly and is another topic I am willing to help students with (from interview technique to presentations at school).
