Information about Nishan
I am a London-based humanities researcher and educator, passionate about creating transformative learning experiences for high school and university students. I hold an MPhil in Political Thought and Intellectual History from the University of Cambridge, and an MA in political theory and design from the University of Sydney.
I`m currently the humanities and social sciences content lead for AimHi, a group of teachers and educators, working together to help out students with limited access to education during the COVID-19 outbreak. Here I lead live/interactive online tutorials to keep students inspired in lockdown.
Prior to moving to the UK, I led the launch of Samsung Adappt (Australias first apps-for-good design programme for young people), designed and delivered the Global Leadership Conventions (a series of one-day leadership conferences with over 20,000 high schoolers across Australia and New Zealand) and was part of the team at Elevate (Australia`s leading study skills programme).
Availability: During school closures, I am flexible around the needs of students. My preferred slots are between 10am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: Before graduating from Cambridge, I spent ten years working in schools and universities across Australia and New Zealand as an educator, trainer and facilitator. I also have experience delivering study skills in essay writing, time management, memorisation and exam performance with schools across Australia as part of the presenter team at Elevate Education.
I`ve worked with tens of thousands of school students from diverse backgrounds, finding creative means to explore complex concepts, training them in leadership and design, and helping them increase their motivation, build new study habits and boost their results.
