Hello my name is Joanne. I am an experienced and friendly private tutor for GCSE and A Level Sociology with almost 20 years of work to date within the field of education.


I am an experienced qualified classroom teacher, one-to-one online and face to face tutor as well as both AQA and OCR examiner.

I am a Nottingham University graduate with a BA (Hons) degree in Sociology and Social Policy.

My academic background is in social sciences , but I have taught a range of subjects from English, RE, Citizenship and Access courses at various levels from 11 to adult.

I am willing to travel up to 20 miles to assist with tutoring, or can provide online support.

During our first lesson I will devise a plan and scheme of work based around your needs and aspirations, and I will strive to help you achieve success through my excellent subject and exam know how, organisation and knowledge.

I am passionate about Sociology - sociology is life, and I look forward to working with you.

Availability: Weekdays in school hours 9-3pm and some after school evenings too (please see my calendar)
Weekend availability between 9am-4pm

Experience: I have almost 20 years of experience in education from being a teaching assistant, academic tutor, classroom teacher, 1:1 tutor, head of department, and recently an online tutor specialising in students with SEN. I have also been a GCSE and A Level sociology examiner for both AQA and OCR for ten years.
I have mostly taught sociology at a range of levels, but I have also taught key skills in English, as well as some English teaching to ESOL students and special needs students in years 7-13.
