Information about Hyerim

Having graduated with First Class Honours in Neuroscience and Psychology iBSC at King`s College London, and about to enter my final years of medical studies, I have always enjoyed learning and working hard. My aim as a tutor is to not only help students learn the necessary material, but a large part of my focus is to enhance their motivation for learning.

For the past six years, I have tutored both private 1 to 1 classes and group sessions with professional tuition centres, so I have extensive experience with both individuals students and groups.

It is my personal belief, that to enable a student to reach their full academic potential, it is not as simple as merely adding a couple of extra hours of lessons, but more about both inspiring and motivating the student to take control of their own learning. Through experience, I have discovered that maintaining an informal but conducive environment is paramount to ensuring students understand the importance of their subjects. I always make certain that my students retain what was taught in the lesson by having adequate homework and revision material.

Additionally, an area that schools often overlook is the UCAS application. This became apparent to me after having sat on the medical school interview panel. This has given me further insight into the university application process, which I will use to provide advice to my tutees on university selections, personal statement and the interview process.

Fundamentally, I believe good tutoring is about helping students develop an appetite for learning, and through this, many students will eventually develop a good study attitude. This can be accomplished in part by creating enjoyable lessons for the student and tailoring the lesson to meet the needs of each individual student.

Throughout my tutoring experience, I have received numerous feedback from parents commending my technique, one, in particular, stood out to me when one parent stated that their child`s least favourite subject has now become one of their favourites, which is what I strive to achieve with every one of my students.

Experience: Over the last six years, I have accumulated extensive teaching experience in multiple settings. I lecture younger year medical students for the university, as well as being a professionally trained tutor in a major tutoring company that specializes in providing 1-1 and group tuition.

Furthermore, I actively volunteer in `reach-out` programs which involves giving university application advice to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. This includes giving the students guidance on writing their personal statements, preparing them for university interviews and helping them with the UCAS process.
