Chinese linguistic and literature
Information about Manning
I hold a BA degree of Chinese Linguistic and Literature (in China), first master in MA International Child Studies, and second master in Education Policy and Society, both at King`s College London.
Rich teaching experience. I have taught different people in various environment and mandarin levels, from one to one, to group class; from adults to children; from complete beginners to advanced level (HSK 5).
Learning a new language is a mile stone process. I always encourage my students to learn from the old, the process of learning Mandarin comes along with patience, concentration, accumulation, and most important, practise under the efficient and helpful guidance.
Learning Mandarin is not just about the language itself. It is also important to know about Chinese culture and the way of Chinese thinking behind the language. Therefore, during my teaching, I would also share some interesting Chinese culture, such as the Chinese number and colour preferences, explaining why Chinese always express in a modest way, the stories of how some Chinese characters were made and changed.
Students` own motivation of learning a new language matters too. Knowing your target and the reason why you want to learn Mandarin can drive your own motivation, but also it can shift the dependence on teacher and mere teaching materials to varies resources, until it becomes a life-long learning habit.
