Information about Rebecca

I graduated in 2016 with a Merit from an MA in Performance and Directing at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. I also previously obtained a Joint Honours Degree in English Literature and Theatre Studies from the University of Glasgow. I have worked in schools as a supply and as a one to one for children with special needs. I am passionate and very knowledgeable about English Literature, Theatre and Drama. I have helped students who felt they had no hope of passing to achieve good grades in a variety of subjects from History to Geography. For example, helping a student to raise their grade from a C in English Literature for their AS Levels to an A* in their A Level. I am also CELTA certified and can teach English as a foreign language.

I have tutored young people from primary school level to A Level, helping with 11+ and Entrance exams as well as GCSEs.

I like to tutor in a way that is stimulating and creative. I respond to the interests and strengths of the tutee, rather than focusing on the negative.

I am open to negotiations about rates if you want longer sessions so don`t be afraid to ask!

Availability: Flexible.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I worked as a tutor for The Complete Works for one and a half years - it is an offsite school for young people outside the system because of behavioural or learning difficulties.
I am a freelance tutor in English Literature, Language and Drama.
I have worked in many different schools, assisting, teaching and supporting.
I taught English to children in Italy during the summer after TEFL training and spent two weeks on a boat this summer teaching English to a group of French people for three hours a day. I have just completed an intensive CELTA course.
I also run and assist drama and arts workshops.

We`ve already had a few lessons with Rebecca but so far I can say that she`s a very nice and polite teacher. Always on time. My son enjoys her lessons.

Rebecca has taught English and Drama to my son Larry for the past 3 years. Larry is very dyslexic and has attention issues but is also very bright. Rebecca is fantastically patient with him, has been very inventive of ways to keep him engaged in the curriculum, and he is now ready for his GCSEs. She is a very good, reliable and imaginative tutor and I can wholeheartedly recommend her.

Rebecca is tutoring my daughter A Level English Literature. She is very reliable and focused on helping her to achieve her best. Rebecca is also very knowledgeable in her subject. One particular aspect (as a parent) I have noticed is her really joining in the journey with my daughter by picking up her text and studying in her own time to assist and stay current. She is able to engage in a age appropriate way and herself to the specific needs of my daughter.
I am very happy with her contribution thus far, she has added value to support required to help my daughter on her journey to achieving an A. Thank you Rebecca. I would recommend her for future tutoring.
