Hettie

I am a fully qualified teacher in Humanities with a specialism in Religious Studies. I have four years experience in teaching key stages 3-5 (ages 11- 19) in Religious Studies. History, Geography and Philosophy and Ethics.

For the last 2 years I have been working at Avanti Hall School Exeter, first as a teaching assistant and then taking over the class teacher role.

I am currently finishing my Masters part time in Religious Studies through the University of Amsterdam.

I also have worked as a nanny and have a lot of experience working with and looking after younger children too.

Availability: I am available weekends and weekday evenings by arrangement.

Experience: I completed my PGCE in 2012 at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham and spent two years working as a Humanities teacher at Winton Arts and Media College in Bournemouth.

I then worked for two years at Queen Elizabeth’s School, Crediton teaching in both the Upper and Lower sites. Here I taught all the Humanities and A Level Philosophy and Ethics. From here I left to undertake a Masters in Amsterdam where I also worked as a nanny.

I have taught and would be able to tutor all ages from 11 - 19 including all exam boards up to this level.

From my experience as a teacher and from personal experience looking after younger children, I have developed an ability to empathise with and motivate young people, which I consider a key part of my tutoring style and outlook.
