I have been a primary school teacher for 13 years and I have taught all year groups and all primary subjects. I currently teach in an independent school and I am a member of the senior leadership team. My particular specialism is in reading and English.

Experience: I use the Maths for Mastery approach which is a Singapore method of teaching. It focuses on using concrete resources and uses critical thinking and analytical skills which embeds mathematical concepts. The "hands on" approach is especially suited to students who struggle with memorising and rote learning.

For English, as a reading specialist, I can not emphasise how important being a good reader is to become a good writer. The two are intrinsically linked and I use varied methods to support both reading and writing.

I have tutored students for SATs, 11+ exams and entrance exams for independent schools. As a senior leader in an independent school, I am fully conversant with the entrance process into the private sector.

I have also taught in mainstream and international schools.

My calm and patient approach is particularly suited to children with specific educational needs or who have English as an Additional Language, and I have significant experience in teaching children who need a non-traditional approach to education.

I hold a CELTA certification which means that I can also teach English to adults.
