Whilst studying aerospace engineering at the University of Cambridge, I developed an in-depth, intricate understanding of several difficult concepts in maths and physics. The depth of my understanding enables me to work around ideas that students may be struggling with - I now have a number of different communication tricks up my sleeve to help convey different concepts in whichever way best suits the individual student.

Above anything else, I am a patient and compassionate teacher. I have a real, first-hand understanding of how difficult school and exam preparations can be for young people, both academically and emotionally.

I have a passion for engaging with students on a personal, meaningful level, and coming up with creative ways of teaching difficult content. I am particularly interested in visual and interactive teaching methods. My time training as an adventure activities instructor in the outdoor industry has repeatedly proven the effectiveness of these methods in making learning an enjoyable, engaging, and long-lasting experience.

I can set weekly homework if we decide this is appropriate, provide regular feedback on your progress, and even help you create personalised revision plans to help prepare for exams - I am always open to having a conversation about how we can best tailor our sessions around you and your individual learning needs.

My strong academic background enables me to break down ideas that students may be struggling with and communicate them in a range of different ways to suit the individual. It also empowers me to develop a student`s interest in the subject beyond the prescribed syllabus.

Since completing my studies, I have trained as an outdoor instructor, gaining a wealth of experience in teaching and educating people of all ages about the environment and the great outdoors. This gave me countless opportunities to develop good communication skills, a friendly and approachable personality, and the ability to properly listen to different people’s needs. These are all crucial skills that have helped make me a better teacher.

I also work in the field of mental health, designing and creating visual materials to help raise awareness. This has given me a much deeper understanding of the broader issues going on for young people at school, beyond exams and homework. This, I strongly believe, makes me a better teacher as well.
