My name is Becky and I am currently studying for a masters conversion course part time in psychology, having achieved a First in my undergraduate degree several years ago at the University of Bristol in French and Music (joint honours).
Availability: In general, I am available Monday - Wednesday 3pm-7pm. However, please do enquire about other times as I may be able to offer a lesson at another time, particularly for a Skype lesson or during the school holidays.
This summer (June - August 2019) I have more availability so please do enquire if you are interested in intensive summer tuition or one-off lessons. There may also be the opportunity for longer term tuition.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Before my undergraduate degree, I spent time in France as an au pair and then went back to France as an English Language Assistant in two French secondary schools as part of my degree. Since then, I have predominantly worked in education and have several years` experience working as a private tutor, cello teacher, teaching assistant in a special school, SEN camp worker and English as a foreign language teacher. I also have experience shadowing a speech and language therapist and an educational psychologist in schools, spent a term assisting French lessons in a state secondary school and carried out work experience in a top private school.
As a private tutor I have helped students with French GCSE, iGCSE, AS and A level exams. I have also prepared students for entrance exams to private schools and worked with primary and secondary school students who just needed a little bit of extra support and confidence with their French. Many of my pupils have gone on to achieve top marks in their exams and been accepted by the school of their choice.
In addition, I have prepared young people for 7+ and 11+ entrance exams to top grammar and private schools in Surrey and London. I have also supported primary age students with special educational needs and provided extra help in maths, English and reading.
As a tutor, I really feel that you are in a privileged position to make a real difference to a young person`s confidence, self-esteem and academic achievement by being able to tailor lessons to their individual needs and personality.
It is also due to this tutoring experience along with my experience as a TA that I am now pursuing a career in educational psychology.
