Information about Luc

I am convinced that there is no better way to seriously get into programming, than by learning to make video games. Despite not playing them, I find the technology powering these hardware-defying pieces of software so broad, so challenging and simply so much fun, that just working on one game will motivate and expose any programmer to a plethora of fields within computer science!

I believe that I can help motivate students to get their hands dirty in the world of programming through the guiding philosophy of trying to understand how everything in the computer works... And all this through the magic of being able to interact with the stuff of dreams - the magic of making video games!

I hope that through my lessons, students will gain a grasp of fundamental programming principles with C/C++, develop a curiosity for computer graphics, networking, operating system development, compilers, and of course... a true, independent passion for computer science.

My lessons won`t follow any specific academic curriculum as the goal is to trigger students` interest and desire to discover on their own the wonders of the subject. However, it goes without saying that the concepts taught will be applicable to any computer science curriculum.

I cannot wait to help you get excited about computer science!

Availability: I`m available in the afternoons.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: I absolutely love and have experience teaching (both individually and at school). I`ve taught programming, specifically C/C++, computer graphics, networking, and general low-level (close to the hardware) concepts.

I`ve worked on many projects in the past such as video games, along with their engines, development tools such as a Windows x64 debugger, and have done internships working on the game franchise Halo.

I`ve just finished high school at the Lycee Francais Charles de Gaulle and was lucky enough to have been offered a place at Stanford University next year.
