Information about Andrea
GCSE/A LEVEL/DEGREE STUDENTS. IF YOU WISH TO DEVELOP YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY ARTISTICALLY, TECHNICALLY AND/OR THEORETICALLY I`M CURRENTLY TUTORING VIA ZOOM/FACETIME/MICROSOFT TEAMS/SKYPE/EMAIL. PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO GET IN TOUCH.
I`m a London based Photographic Artist and have worked with Leica, Photo London, Canon, Sony and the World Photography Organisation. I`m a University of Westminster postgraduate with extensive knowledge in visual culture and proven creative/technical skills. Graduation from BA (hons) Photography resulted in agency interest and published work. I teach, undertake commissions and have exhibited independently and as part of a photographic collective since 2009. Conceptually my photography is guided by philosophical and psychological enquiry with creative inspiration drawn equally from contemporary and historical fine art. My work is both abstract descri ption and poetic metaphor, intimacy and poignancy being a fundamental foundation to my working practice. I was awarded a scholarship for both undergraduate and postgraduate study and was honoured to receive additional support through Funding for Women Graduates. Following MA graduation in 2012 I was one of 20 selected artists to exhibit as part of the London Academy Now project alongside artists from the Royal College of Art, Camberwell, Chelsea, Slade and Goldsmiths. I work with both analogue (35mm, medium and large format) and digital (35mm and medium format). I have knowledge of digital output and darkroom technique specifically alternative processes. I`m competent in the supervision of the production and finishing of work to exhibition standard and can offer critical evaluation at both technical and artistic level. I`m DBS checked and have worked with children aged 4-16 and youths aged 17-21 supporting artistic expression in the classroom / studio through workshops and museum / gallery visits. I`ve worked with my own children, now young adults on photographic and creative projects. Recent activity has involved making and using pinhole cameras, wet plate collodian process, salt printing and the production of cyanotype photograms. In 2013 and 2019 my work was shortlisted for The Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition and in 2017 BYOP Les Rencontres de la Photographie, Arles. In 2018 I exhibited independently at Voies Off during Les Rencontres de la Photographie and in 2019 my work was included in the Photo London satellite programme. My photography is represented and sold through Millennium Images and currently held by print sales at The Photographers` Gallery, London. I maintain involvement in critical debate within the field of contemporary and historical photography and attend national and international exhibitions / photographic festivals, museums and galleries regularly - association and ongoing research continues to inspire and inform my art practice.
