Information about Jodie

I am a KS2 class teacher in an Ofsted outstanding Primary school.

Since graduating, my career has been geared around literacy and English in particular. During my time at Swansea University, I participated in their literacy scheme where I discovered huge personal pleasure in helping children to read. Observing the enjoyment in each child when they finished their set reading material, was a joy far beyond any achievement my previous employment has offered.

I currently work as KS2 class teacher in an outstanding primary school in Hackney. Although I work with primary school children, I have A-Levels in Biology and Chemistry. I also graduated with a 2:1 in English Literature. I would love nothing more than to share my knowledge further and help even more students achieve their goals, regardless of age and ability.

Experience: Primary School Teacher (September 2017 until present)

PGCE course (September 2016 - September 2017)
3 School placements (one abroad - 4 weeks in India)

Teaching Assistant (September 2014 – September 2016)
This is a very varied yet extremely rewarding role where my main task is to assist a group of children (aged 6-7) with learning difficulties during their daily lessons, mainly literacy and numeracy. I also lead my own phonics group as well as assisting guided reading groups and physical education lessons. I run an afterschool football and running club for years 3-6 and assist with lunch time and playground duties.

Swansea University’s Literacy Scheme (Sep - December 2012)
I was a member of Swansea University’s mentoring scheme. The aim of the scheme is to help disadvantaged children aged 8-10 to develop the essential literacy skills of reading and writing. It was extremely rewarding to help these children and notice the development in their learning. It allowed me to understand the difference in communicating with younger individuals and I formed a coherent understanding of a school environment.

Jodie is an excellent and amazing tutor for my 6 years old son! Jodie`s approach of teaching and assessing my son`s abilities are extremely excellent! Jodie listened to my parent`s request and what exactly I wanted from her, and she provided the academical materials to my in order to improve his Maths and English subjects! I am very and really pleased and proud with my son`s improvements! My son listens to her, where I personally was having trouble to get my son`s attention when I was trying to teach him myself.
Overall, Jodie is a real dedicated teacher!!!
