I am a primary school teacher with 20 years of teaching experience across primary and secondary education. I hold a Science degree and a post graduate teaching diploma. I am passionate about teaching mathematics and know what to do to support children to progress. I am currently teaching in year 6 and support pupils daily to prepare for their transition to secondary school. I have worked in the local authority to help develop teaching practice in local schools. I attend regular courses to ensure I keep up to date with the expectations set out by the government.

I have extensive experience in supporting children with behaviour, social and emotional difficulties so that they can make the required progress. Keeping track of progress is an activity I engage in on a daily basis. I have to adapt my planning accordingly to address misconceptions and ensure each child I teach is challenged and inspired to challenge themselves.

I do not teach shortcuts. It is very important to me that children build on their understanding of number and are able to apply that to real life situations. Children need guidance, support and practice in order to develop their reasoning skills. I am happy to work with guidance given by schools and class teachers as I know that schools will have calculation policies that are followed and which children build upon yearly.

I am also able to teach other curriculum areas including English (grammar, punctuation, writing and reading comprehension).

Availability: I am available for online or face-to-face lessons in the early evenings (Weekdays) or daytime (Weekends).

Experience: I have 20 years of teaching experience in mainly primary schools but also a few years in a secondary school. This provides me with a vast experience of expectations across the education spectrum.
