I am currently working at `Brentside High School`. My duties involved from setting up chemistry and biology experiments, to the maintenance of the laboratory. I also prepared GCSE, A-level and BTEC practical’s. There were 14 Science teachers so you can imagine the amount of work which was conducted. Our team (2 laboratory technicians and 1 senior) prepared about 15 practicals each day. I mainly prepared Chemistry and Biology GCSE, BTEC and A-level practical’s l also prepared A-level practical exams.

As a Competent Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) Chemist and Laboratory technician, working in a UKAS accredited ‘State of the Art’ laboratory located at the London Olympic 2012 site, my role involved the following set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments, monitor experiments, analyze soil, make observations, make standards, calculate and record results, modification of methods if necessary and often develop conclusions. As an ICP-OES Chemist my main duty was to prep soil for Inorganic analysis of metals, sulphates, ammonia, cyanide and phenol, using Continuous Flow Analysis (Skalar) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES). However, I was being trained to prepare soil for organic analysis, such as PAH, TPH, GRO and VOC. I also carried out other tests, such as determination of moisture percentage and pH concentration of all samples.
