Information about Raiza

Olá, tudo bem? como vai você?

My name is Raiza , 31, I`m Brazilian, and I have lived in the UK for a couple of years.

I recently quit my job - which I didn`t quite like it and had nothing to do with languages - to teach full time.

I love teaching English and Portuguese.

I also love everything related to Latin American studies, so soon I intend to take my PhD in that area.

I`m new here, so I`m still not sure how everything works, but hopefully soon I`ll figure it out. =)

Availability: I have availability in the mornings, afternoons and evenings, but not every day. It would depend on the schedule of the student as well.

Willing to travel: 50 miles

Experience:
I hold a Bachelor Degree in English and Portuguese translation, plus a Master Degree in American Literatures (quite a mix, huh? =) ).

I have 6 years of teaching experience.

I started teaching in 2013 at a Dutch company established in São Paulo, Brazil. My job there was to teach English to Brazilian executives and Portuguese to Dutch executives and that is how everything started.

I left Mammoet in 2014 but never stopped teaching ever since, especially via skype, which is a great tool for people that do not want the hassle of commuting.

I usually teach adults (but wouldn`t mind teaching kids or teenagers as well) and my methodology IN PORTUGUESE is focused on the book "Muito Prazer, Fale o Português do Brasil" (Nice to meet you, speak the Portuguese from Brasil).

This book is in my opinion the best one for PLE because it gives students a broad range of situations and subjects to talk about and help develop students` understanding of this beautiful and varied language that is Portuguese!

I also enjoy bringing the student to Brazilian universe, talking about types of music and movies/series (and of course SOAP OPERAS - Brazilian DO LOVE soap operas, it`s part of us!) that help learners to differentiate accents and idioms.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting you!
