I have become a science tutor to provide affordable support for students who need additional help to improve their understanding of science. I have experience teaching all three sciences, but I specialise largely in Biology and Physics to higher GCSE level.
My past education includes a Biological Sciences Degree from the University of Sheffield. I then continued to train and qualify as a Secondary School Science teacher at the University of Lincoln alongside the Lincolnshire Teaching School Alliance.
My aim as a private tutor is to provide learning which is moulded to meet your son or daughters specific needs and abilities, to help them achieve their best possible outcomes.
Although I chose to leave secondary science teaching at the end of the academic year 2018/2019, I remain education. My current role is a Team Leader for the Prince`s Trust Team Programme, supporting young unemployed adults achieve their career aspirations. As part of this programme I am trained to deliver a Mental Health and Resilience programme, in addition to providing career advice, including CV and interview guidance. My experience delivering sessions on the support and guidance around Mental Health has also been successful in helping reduce the stress and anxiety which can come with sitting tests and exams.
Although I no longer teach in a mainstream school, I certainly have not lost my passion for science and look forward to continue teaching it through private tutoring.
Availability: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 5pm until 8pm
Some Monday`s and Friday`s may be considered at the same time.
I am also able to provide tutoring from my own home; I do however own a dog, but he will be placed away in another room during private tuition time.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I am specialised in KS3 Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and GCSE Biology and Physics, both covering combined and single sciences to higher level. I am also confident teaching foundation GCSE Chemistry. I have had 3 years of full-time, qualified teaching experience, including teaching and supporting a range of students with different learning needs and abilities. I am also experienced in providing additional intervention support for students on a small group and one to one basis.
Schools which I have worked at include Branston Community Academy (Ofsted Oustanding), Humberston Academy (Ofsted Outstanding) and De Aston School (Ofsted Good). I was also called in to provide additional GCSE intervention support at Barnes Wallis Academy (Ofsted Good), following recommendations from my previous work with the David Ross Education Trust.
Additionally I have experience leading in depth revision sessions dedicated entirely to exam techniques, specifically for GCSE science exams.
