Information about Imogen

From September 2020, I will be starting my teacher training in Secondary School History via Schools Direct. In my current role, I will develop my understanding of the skills needed for young people to succeed academically. From September 2018 to July 2020 I worked as an Academic Coach at Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College in Moseley, working with A Level and BTEC students from a variety of different subjects. This has been a great opportunity to help students achieve their academic goals and further develop my written and oral communication skills. As well as providing bespoke subject support to students from subjects including A Level History, Geography and Business, I worked with upper level students who were looking to go to university or apprenticeships. Leaving compulsory education can be a daunting and complicated process. Part of my job is to help students feel comfortable and confident in their choices and help them write great personal statements, CVs and cover letters.
If you, or someone you know, is in the process of leaving sixth form or college and needs support, then I am well equipped for the job. I have attended a course on what universities are looking for in a personal statement and I also spent a year doing career lectures on how to write a good CV (this was during my final year of university). I have accessible resources that will help you start a personal statement, and I am happy to spend time reading drafts. I look forward to hearing from you.
