Information about Alexander

Hi,

I recently graduated from Imperial College London with an upper second class honours masters degree in Theoretical Physics. I went to Reigate Grammar School for my GCSEs and A-Levels. During my time at university I was President of the Snowsports Club. I also played competitive lacrosse.

My Tutoring Approach:

One of the main problems I find students have is a lack of confidence when tackling Maths. My approach to teaching is relaxed, friendly and confidence-building.

I figure out which areas my students are struggling with using their past work and then show them examples on those topics. Questions on an identified topic are tailored to each individual student allowing us to spend more time on things they need more help to understand.

I believe it is vital to teach students how to figure out if they’re made a mistake in their work. I teach them how to check their own answers and then how to correct them as well as general exam techniques.

I also supply my own notes for GCSE Maths, all A-Level Maths modules and most of the A-Level Further Maths syllabus.

Availability: I`m available at any time.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: * Last year I tutored a GCSE student in Maths. They went from working at a grade D, when we started, to working at a grade A in 3 months, when we started to working at grade A in 3 months. They achieved a grade A at GCSE and are now taking Maths for A-Level.

* I taught at WAC Arts College for 9 months during University. I helped teach one class of around 30 students and one class of fours students who required special attention due to behavioural problems.

* I also helped to run a junior maths club at Reigate St Mary’s primary school for 9 months.

Alex has been amazing! Very reliable, organised and a real methodical approach to learning - my daughter has found him to be just what she was looking for to help her with her Maths 9-1 GCSE. We highly recommend him!
