We live in a world of symbols and forms. Drawing connects the inner world of our perception with the outer world of reality.

My name is Ben, and I teach fundamental drawing technique. I focus mainly on the practical side but also enjoy the investigation and discussion of theory, context and history.

I have a strong emphasis on line and tone within my own work, having predominantly drawn for concept, storyboard and illustrative needs. My own drawing tends to be fast, dynamic and expressive. However I have a good range of drawing skills at my disposal and can help with the development of the key elements of drawing, which I consider to be formal rather than stylistic. I am ambidextrous and can teach this skill also.

I offer a free consultation- half an hour over a cup of tea for example- to ascertain suitability; then I charge £20 per session, which can be either an hour or 90 minutes, at your preference. I am clear and specific within my tutoring, but will focus on whatever aspect of your drawing ability you would like to improve. Consider for example Composition, Line Work, Dexterity, Perspective, Character Design, Concept Development, Professionalism, Materials and so on, as areas we could focus on. As the sessions progress we will learn what is needed most in order to improve your work.

Availability: I am available during the week at most times, and quite flexible. I`m not usually available on Saturdays.

Experience: BA Hons Illustration Narrative and Sequential

I am a professional illustrator with a degree in Narrative Illustration and a lot of years of work, both commercial and private; I also work daily on my own observational drawing studies, and self-initiated design and fictional projects. I have been drawing since I was a child!
