Information about Shaktiga
About me:
Having qualified as a doctor over a year ago, I made the difficult decision to leave medicine and to move into an alternative career. The one aspect of medicine that it was very difficult to leave behind was making a difference to the lives of others, as this is something that is personally very important to me. I decided to continue making a difference to the lives of people in two sectors (1) Healthcare - through voluntary work (2) Education - through tutoring students and helping them and their families achieve their goals in education/career.

Experience: Teaching experience:
I`ve been tutoring since my I was doing my A-levels, tutoring students in the years below me at school in various subjects. I started tutoring on a larger scale after I qualified in June 2014, having tutored more than 10 students in 11+ entrance exams (with close to 100% pass rates), as well as 3 students in A-level Mechanics 1, all of whom went up from Grade C-U to Grade A within the space of 4 months. I have also mentored a number of students in getting into medical school, including with interview preparation, with all my students getting into at least one of their 4 choices of medical school.
Approach to tutoring:
From my own personal experience, I know that how well students do is highly impacted by their teachers/tutors. Every student has a different way of learning, and I always cater my style to match the needs of the students. Whist some students come to me only needing helping with pass papers, others come to me needing the full curriculum taught again, whatever my students` needs, that`s what my focus will always be. Making a student feel comfortable enough to ask questions to clear doubts, and having the patience to deal with students who find it difficult to grasp a concept are important to me. As long as my students (and their parents/guardians in cases of younger students) are motivated to putting the effort into learning and doing well, I will give 110% to making sure that I do the best for my students, including providing out of hours phone help if they need help with questions/concepts urgently. I am also very flexible, often providing extra classes closer to exam times to ensure my students feel confident and ready before sitting any exam.
