Information about Rebecca

I am a qualified postgraduate Masters by Research student now working in the museum sector. I studied Paleontology and Statistics at postgraduate level (Pass with minor corrections) and Geology (upper second class honours) at undergraduate level. I have a very strong grasp of both Geology and Maths as a result of my academic studies and wish to help students excel in these subjects.

I tailor my classes to suit each individual student. Prior to beginning teaching, I will ask for their input into which topics within Geology or Maths (or both!) they would like to focus on in order to help them improve in these areas. I am also able to prepare them for exams at both GCSE (Maths and Geology) and A Level (Geology) standards, working through past papers and questions along with subject knowledge so that they understand what is being asked of them.

I am friendly and patient, and will happily go over the same topic as often as needed to ensure that the student learns as thoroughly as possible. I invest a lot of time into each of my students, and know that in return they will work as hard as possible to achieve their academic goals.

Experience: I have been tutoring students since I was 16 and preparing for and sitting my A Level exams. In this time (whilst still at school), I tutored a GCSE Geography student to help her with general knowledge and exam preparation for her exams. Alongside this, I also tutored a student with cerebral palsy through both his GCSE and AS Level Maths years. Both students excelled in their exams and I thoroughly enjoyed helping them achieve good grades.

I also taught undergraduate university students as a postgraduate demonstrator while undergoing my postgraduate studies. I taught first and second year Palaeontology classes and third year Statistics. This was a class of approximately 90 students, although I was also happy to give up some of my own time for those who requested further help following the classes. I answered questions and provided help where needed to the students, including those with learning disabilities. Marking and grading students` work gave me a wonderful opportunity to see how students were improving and most had improved by at least one grade, if not two by the end of the year.
