Information about Jack
Hi I`m Jack and I`m a 6th year medical student at the University of Oxford. I am here to tutor as I really want to help you all achieve your full potential so that you have a set of grades which will take you where you want to go! As a medical student I am able to offer tuition in Science and Maths as well as help with medical school applications.
In science understanding the core principles of a topic is absolutely key. Once a thorough groundwork has been established I will use different methods (diagrams, thought experiments, analogies, exam questions) to try to get you to apply the basic science you have learnt. Applying the basic principles in this way is how you know you have truly understood something and is what will be tested in your exams! I will also do my best to help you to develop a critical and efficient exam technique which is a really easy way to improve performance both in your exams and in any university interviews.
Most importantly I will do everything I can to create a safe and interactive environment where you feel comfortable to ask any questions (no matter how silly you think they might be) and get as involved as possible.
Getting into medical school:
Competition for places is fiercer than ever so you want to make sure you go into it as prepared as you can be! In these sessions I can help you perfect your personal statement and offer general interview preparation. This will involve helping you to nail down stand-out answers to common interview questions and encouraging you to think critically when answering the scientific and ethical questions designed to stretch you at interview. Additionally if you are thinking about applying to Oxbridge I can offer tutoring for the BMAT exam and can also shed some light on Oxford life and the rather unique interview process.
Availability: Evenings and weekends
Willing to travel: 1 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring GCSE and A level Science and Maths for the past 3 years and have accumulated over 500 hours of tutoring experience.
I am a paid tutor for medical students at Christ Church, University of Oxford.
I have spent a year as the academic welfare rep for Oxford MedSoc which means that I was a supportive contact for all 450 Oxford medical undergraduates. As part of this role I set up a peer tuition scheme in which younger students could request tuition on topics that they find difficult from a group of older student tutors. I was the organiser and chief tutor for this scheme.
I am a tutor for Applican, an excellent organisation which runs weekend courses for applicants to UK medical schools. This requires an extensive understanding of what makes an attractive candidate for medical schools and allows me help you maximise your chances of securing a place at medical school!

Really pleased with the tuition Jack has provided my son in his A level subjects Biology and Chemistry. Furthermore Jack provided invaluable support with my son`s medical application with structuring his personal statement and interview preparation. My son so far has offers from two univerties of which one is Oxford.
