Information about Hamzah

My teaching style revolves around you. Since I have a plethora of knowledge in Biology and Chemistry, I can tailor the knowledge around what you need to know and expand on the knowledge so that it would be of use to you when you enter into university. For example, at A level biology, it is expected that students understand the basics of glycolysis and Krebs cycle, whereas I would like you to understand it and then incorporate the learning, contextuse it so that you could apply it to future studies. This has been proven to work, to help students understand the concepts and then apply them on exams so that they are not learning for the sake of a grade but are learning for the sake of wanting to learn and understand and gain a greater appreciation for the concepts, applicable to their chosen degree.

My lessons are tailored to you! I would first take what you already know, and work on what you don’t. I base my lessons on the criteria set by the exam boards, underlining what needs to be taught and going through each syllabus point to make sure everything is understood. Once taught, I then help make revision materials like notecards, posters or mind maps. All of this helps aid active recalling which is revision technique I help teach each of my students. Once a topic is taught, I go through some exam-style questions and how examiners are likely to ask questions based on the syllabus. I also provide further exam questions for the tutee to take away and practise.

Throughout my teachings, I go through revision techniques which is something not many tutors help with. Coming from a very scientific background, I’ve enhanced my revision techniques and have tried everything to now know what works and what doesn’t. I also help with exam technique too. This is probably the most important lesson to be learnt as you may know the content, but without knowing how to answer the questions, you won’t get any marks for knowing the content.

Experience: I am a medical student at Peninsula Medical School, prior I had studied Biochemistry at the University of Nottingham. I have extensive experience in the fields of both biology and chemistry. I have previously taught A level students privately and helped them achieve their full potential and aim them for higher grades so that they could meet their offers of studying health allied courses, which require exceptional grades.
My previous students have had exceptional offers, through my own personal experiences of applying to university. These include:
- University of Oxford (Merton College) - Biochemistry - A*AA
- Imperial College London - Chemistry - A*A*A*A
- University of Plymouth - Medicine and Dentistry - A*AB and AAA (Respectively)
- University of Birmingham - Dentistry - AAA
- London School of Oriental and African studies (SOAS) - Law - A*AB
- University of Manchester - Medicine, Dentistry and Optometry - A*AA, A*AA, A*BB (Respectively)
- University of Bradford - Pharmacy and Optometry - AAB and ABB (Respectively)
- University of Leeds - Dentistry - AAB
- University of Liverpool - Dentistry - AAA

Finding a great tutor can be a Herculean task and Hamzah is certainly a 5+ star tutor. Professional, empathetic with a youthful exuberance just begins to describe how his teaching style has helped my daughter, teaching how to contextualise learnings rather than just simply learning content. By teaching the application of principles Hamza provided another layer of deeper understanding and appreciation. With his approachable attitude, he goes above and beyond his remit, by providing pre-lesson notes and guidance. Skilled, knowledgeable and flexible, I have no hesitation in recommending Hamzah.

Tutors Response :

Thank you Zulfiqar! I am so happy to hear about your feedback! Imaan was a delight to teach and I am so proud of her getting into dentistry at Birmingham! Best wishes, Hamzah

My son started with Hamzah in August 2020, Lessons were always changed from when agreed. Tutor cancelled teaching him via a whatsapp message initially in Nov 2020 without giving any feedback to parent of any difficulties. This issue was resolved. March 2020, recieve a message he can not give any lessons for the entire month due to his own scedule. My son had a few lessons in April. I contacted Tutor in May and was told my son hadn`t been proactive in asking for lessons, this is despite the fact I as a parent had prepaid for the whole month, and it was normal for the tutor to advise my son when he was free to tutor due to his own schedule. In summary, lessons changed from face to face to online, no set times for lessons they change on weekly basis, lessons cancelled for weeks in between due to the tutors own schedule. No feedback from tutor when lessons are not going as planned. Would not recommend, at A levels consistency is key and this tutor failed to provide that.

Tutors Response :

Thank you for your feedback. At the time of your son`s tutoring I had contacted yourself multiple times, to which I was disregarded and you had hoped that I would try even further with your son. As he had not cooperated with myself and had failed to comply with the work I had set for him, as well as not being able to answer simple questions that I had taught him, I had given multiple opportunities to him and yourself to redeem himself. I finally then had to decide that it was not worth pursuing teaching your son further, and therefore focus on my other students, which if you look above, will see how they have provided great feedback and have also gone onto brilliant courses at universities. I had also reached out to return your money, at which you had not responded.
