Information about Tooba

Hello, I am Tooba. I am from Pakistan and right now I am studying Politics at LSE.During my O and A Levels I have tutored my class mates and my juniors and helped them to achieve the grades they had set out for themselves.

I was chosen school prefect from my class. The experience refined my leadership and communication skills. It gave me insight of the problems faced by my schoolfellows and taught me to work towards their solutions. I had to speak against injustices and certain practices in my school. It made me a self-dependent individual, which I believe,is necessary trait for political motivation.
I have always been a book lover.Reading about different cultures, intricate nature of human mind, and reactions of people in various situations, have made me appreciate different cultures and helped in my interactions with students a My reading experiences with foreign cultures have aided my interpretation of the social and human world around me.
I am an active member of “VOICE OF YOUTH”and,” TAKING IT GLOBAL” forums. Speech and expression emerge not as an effortless task but as an ardent passion in me. In school, I joined the debate team, wrote for school magazine and candidly accepted every opportunity to express myself. My flair for communication not only allows me to express but also instill in me the desire to listen to the distinct voices of all individuals which helps me to be a good listener.

I had the opportunity to organize and host farewell parties, golden jubilee celebrations and seminars in my school. It made me realize my potential as an achiever. I hate to be just an audience. I always want to be a performer. This struggle to give my best in everything I do, has made me competitive and never allows me to become complaisant.
I have many experiences of leading a team for various school projects. Last year, my class had to perform on Valentine’s Day in school. Study pressures forced us to delay our preparation such that just two days before the event, my class decided to call it off due to lack of preparation. This was when I led my class into organizing the whole program and encouraged them. I did every part that others refused to do but it was worth an effort as our audience appreciated us.It made me realize the power of firm resolution and how it makes anything possible. It helped me to be more organized.
In September 2011, I had a chance to represent my school on National level, where I was selected amongst the top 50 students from Pakistan to compete in National Science Talent Competition. I lived and studied with students from different parts of Pakistan. The experience helped me to construe how one adapts into situations for collective benefits. I was awarded the “Excellence Award” by my principal for qualifying for a prestigious training camp.
