Information about Ida

I am a German teacher with a BA (Hons) German Degree from the University of Manchester. As a part of my Degree I spent a year in Heidelberg, Germany as an Erasmus student. After graduating I went back to Norway where I studied English and completed a PGCE in German at the University in Oslo, which has provided me with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) within the UK. I then returned to Manchester in August 2015.

In addition to studying German and English, I have had the opportunity to do Dutch and Italian courses. These have reminded me of both the challenges and the joy one experiences learning a language from scratch, and made it easier for me to identify with my students.

Studying German and other languages have had such a positive impact on my life. It would therefore make me really happy if I could help you get better at either German, English or Norwegian.

Experience: I have 3 years of experience teaching beginners as well as advanced learners of German and English on both lower and secondary schools. In addition, I worked as a tutor for a private teaching agency, teaching German and English one-to- one. The pupils were differing in ability level aged ranged from 14-16.This experience gave me the opportunity to enhance my ability to quickly adapt my teaching to the pupil`s individual needs and explore a variety of possible ways to improve their learning.
As a language teacher I believe it is important to focus on not only the actual language, but also on learning strategies and giving the learner continuous feedback. In addition, I find, it is crucial to motivate and to make learning the language fun by varying the methods of teaching by using resources online, music or playing games.
