Having studied both Physics and Philosophy at university, I specialise in both essay writing and science-based subjects up to A level and beyond in some cases.

I provide a tailored 1:1 service with students to develop their confidence and ability in across a range of subjects such as Maths, Physics and History. As well as working to fill gaps in the students’ knowledge, I will also work on their ability to best apply their knowledge in order build their confidence and technique in the subject.

I offer an additional free 15 minute introduction before the first hour session to assess the student’s style of learning and required content to be covered. This will help to tailor future sessions to ensure maximum student engagement and increase the efficiency of our time together.

Experience: Having recently graduated with a first class honours in Physics and Philosophy from Bristol University, I am proficient in essay writing, maths-based subjects, revision techniques, and exam preparation. I am a patient teacher and a firm believer in not only providing students with the relevant knowledge, but also ensuring that they understand the course content and how to apply their understanding in the most effective way.

Via 1:1 tutoring, I am able to tailor the my teaching style in accordance with the student`s preferences. At school, the teacher is unable to accommodate for each student`s learning style, often causing students to disengage with a subject and quickly lose their confidence in it. This can be easily rectified through private tutoring. By adapting the lesson to a format that is best suited to them, a more positive learning attitude will ensue. Increasing a student`s confidence in the subject is half the battle. The other half is a combination of technique and knowledge retention. 

For essay-based subjects, I offer a range of different learning and essay writing techniques to help a student revise effectively as well as boost their exam performance. From flash cards, to crib-sheets, to written practices; I will help the student to develop revision techniques and study practises that compliment their specific learning needs. I will then build the student`s exam technique, filling in the gaps where necessary, so that they are able to quickly draw on their knowledge in the exam. This consists of providing the students with knowledge recall techniques along with draft and essay writing tips so that they are able to perform to the best of their ability in the exam.

I can also help with maths-based subjects, first working to ensure that the student understands the content and then is able to apply this understanding readily in different circumstances. Science-based topics require a combination of a comprehensive understanding in the topic as well as both experience and confidence when approaching unseen questions.

I am also able to offer help to students with specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia. I am not officially qualified in these areas but instead teach from my own personal experiences and advice given to me by trained specialists throughout my higher education.

I have been fortunate to have carried out part of my education in the private school system and am therefore able to offer some informal preparation for the entry interviews required by private/public schools.
