Information about Rachel
I have a first class English degree from University College London, and am a qualified teacher, holding a PGCE with QTS. I have worked in the independent schools sector for the last few years. I am currently focusing on tutoring and marking public examinations, combining these with looking after my young sons.
Availability: I offer tutoring in English Literature across the entire age range (up to and including A Level), and in English Language at Primary, KS3 and GCSE Level. I tutor from home, although have moved all my pupils online during the pandemic.
I am happy to take small groups too. With each additional pupil, the rate-per-hour rises by £10. These costs include detailed planning and marking.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: In the last few years I have been teaching in the independent schools sector, where I taught English at KS3, 4 and 5 (including new GCSE and A Level specifications).
I have also spent time carrying out literacy interventions in a primary school, and have a range of SEN experience across both age groups.
I have a broad range of tutoring experience, having taught pupils one-to-one at KS2, 3, 4 and 5. I have prepared pupils for the 11 plus, as well as for GCSEs and A Levels.
I am also an examiner for AQA, marking GCSE English Literature papers.
DBS Check: Yes

Rachel has been an excellent tutor. Thanks to her teaching and guidance my son was able to achieve Grade 9s in both English language and literature. Her lessons were always planned out well, and she thoroughly went through the topics which my son need support with. I would highly recommend her.

My daughter has just finished her GCSE`s and her time spent with Rachel was invaluable. Rachel provided a solid foundation for essay writing skills and helped my daughter to identify the key additional items/points she needed to be adding to gain the edge and get full marks. Rachel worked through content in great depth and pushed my daughter to focus on independent, unique ideas. The cross over to other subjects was very useful and assisted my daughter in her essay writing for History, Art and Media. Rachel built up my daughter`s confidence and I highly recommend her as a tutor.
