In order to take ABRSM`s Grade 6, 7 or 8 exams on your instrument, you must first have taken and passed ABRSM`s Grade 5 Theory of Music exam. ABRSM`s Theory of Music exams challenge you to study "the building blocks of music, starting with the basics of rhythm and notes, and going on to cover harmony and counterpoint, composition, and a broad knowledge of western music, including composers and their works, structure, style and peroid". Whatever your current knowledge of music theory, I offer one-to-one lessons to children and adults, either to enable you to get that Grade 5 theory certificate so that you can get on with more music making, or to study the wonderful world of music theory from the first lesson right up until the Grade 8 exam. For those aiming to take the Grade 5 theory exam, I provide all workbooks, so you only need to pay for lessons and the exam. I live in West London and usually travel to your home to teach.
