Information about Jess
Hi I’m Jess, I am a medical student at the [contact detail removed] as well as an aspiring tutor. My passion for tutoring future academics stems from my ability to relate to the learner themselves. I recently, or shall I say currently, were in their shoes having the same worries and obstacles that they face, and I feel this level of understanding enables me to really engage the student into WANTING to learn. Rather than be required to learn. I try to involve traditional learning methods, with super-focused new learning tasks, to help improve a students understanding as well as maintain that level into the future!
Availability: I am available most days throughout the week for both elder and younger students. Lessons will consist of a maximum of 2 hours to allow enough time to cover material, but short enough for you to remain engaged and interested in learning
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: When I was in secondary school [contact detail removed]), I was surrounded by some truly great and intelligent teachers however I always felt that it was just a student-teacher relationship therefore I rarely expressed all my concerns. I believe this hindered my learning.I am in full support of the idea that a student and teacher can be on an equal level as I believe this will not only bring the best out of the you, the student, but also brings out the best of me. Through self-learning and some tutoring support I managed to accomplish 9A*s at GCSE and A*AAA at A-level in biology, chemistry and maths (+ Further).
Having also done a degree at Swansea University, and beginning my medical degree at [contact detail removed], I know how tiring and difficult it can be with the constant pressure or work, but also the constant pressure of other things in society. My aim is to introduce a new type of tutoring, something different to traditional methods, a tutoring session which is directed towards YOUR worries and the things YOU find difficult. Sessions will involve working through any topics which students are struggling to understand in school, homework/assignments and a focused knowledge of the curriculum which will take you beyond the limits the school has restrained you too.
I have spent a year learning from a great tutor whilst studying at university, as well as numerous experience assisting teachers in secondary schools. Yet most of this drive to become a tutor is from seeing how society currently views students, you are not a burden, you are the future! I am inspired by the possibility of inspiring you to become the best version of YOURSELF.
I am here for students of all levels of abilities as well as being there as a friend and mentor for future academic or more importantly LIFE decisions.
