Information about John
A graduate of the University of Nottingham (Economics), I completed my teacher training (at University of Derby) in Mathematics. It`s one of those subjects that is so useful, outside of the realm of mathematics proper but also sometimes quite inaccessible to many and so I like to provide as much support as I can.
I find that the beauty of 1:2:1 tutoring is that one can get to know the person learning the subject directly. What is their current strengths? Perhaps even in a separate subject, even. Utilising that to help maths make sense. And, I welcome lots of questions too.
Availability: I teach at a College in Leicester, but if you reach out to me with what you need, I`m sure we can sort out some times that are suitable.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: Historically, my teaching experience so far has been centred around computer systems, and language training (BSL). Since my recent(ish) career change into education, I have been teaching GCSE Mathematics at an FE College in Leicester, and for the past 7 years tutoring on a 1:2:1 basis at stages from KS3 right up to Year 1 UG Maths.
This year (2019) I have also created, designed and am currently delivering a GCSE course entirely online, incorporating some monthly face-to-face sessions in the evening.
Feedback For John (5)
John was patient, knowledgeable and informative. He took the time to go over the materials I wished to study in his own time to prepare for the sessions which was a huge plus. Anything he didn`t know he endeavoured to learn. Definitely recommended.
We have recently started with Tutor John and he is a sensitive and understanding tutor. My son is low in confidence and self esteem and John is supporting him with Maths and going at my Sons pace. It is good to have an understanding, caring tutor.Highly recommended.
Very good tutor, patience and helpful
Really helped to give me a fighting chance in first year maths for economics at university. Would have been down and out had it not been for the tutoring by John.
John was helpful at all levels, using XL to resolve
the problems blocking the progress of the assignment.
He was reliable, prompt and did what he said he could.
Already recommended him to others.
