Information about Benjamin

I am currently studying medicine at Nottingham University, having achieved an 86% average mark in my first year.

I have a charismatic and engaging teaching style which focusses on guiding my students through knowledge assimilation and exam technique. This aims to give long-term results which far outlast the imminent exams.

Having trained & worked as a product designer for 5 years I decided to retrain in medicine two years ago. This was due to my fixation with science, a devotion which comes through in my impassioned & engaging teaching style. This sharp interest in science helps give my teaching a wider context, whilst my background in teaching non-science subjects allows me to explain complex concepts in a concise and easy to understand manner. Most importantly my teaching doesn`t rely on assumed previous knowledge. Something which many postgraduate scientists find difficult. My tutoring is always tailored to my student`s abilities, and thanks to my experience in teaching large classes I have an aptitude for quickly optimizing my teaching style. This ensures the most out of all my students whether they are pushing for an A* or struggling to keep up with the class.

I am happy to coach interview techniques and personal statements, having written statements that were accepted to Harvard, Nottingham, & Loughborough.

Availability: I am happy to tutor at the Royal Derby Hospital, where there are beautiful facilities and private rooms with whiteboards.

Alternatively, I am happy to drive up to 5 miles from my residence in Derby.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I worked for a year as a lecturer and demonstrator at Brunel University in West London teaching electronic engineering and product design (having already graduated with a first in product design engineering and technology). The group of students I taught scored the highest marks ever achieved by a cohort, in both examinations and coursework. Glowing references from my work as a lecturer are available on request.

I have tutored English in Pisa to groups of 4-8 students of varying ages.
