Highly experienced qualified teacher and examiner of Physics and Chemistry from the University of Manchester and Girton College, University of Cambridge. I have taught for 33+ years with outstanding results and a long track record of improving pupils progress in relation to their target grades. My approach is to provide a supportive relationship and creating individually tailored sessions (and courses) to meet their individual needs which in turn builds confidence which is then reflected in their examination performance. In addition, I have been an examiner for OCR and Edexcel for over 25 years for both Chemistry (GCSE and A level) and Physics (GCSE) which allows me to directly link the course to examination technique and preparation. My high-quality revision programmes are linked to the recognition of keywords and phrases which in turn allows the pupil to be able to answer the questions with higher degree of accuracy. It also allows the pupils to identify the ‘quick wins’ which also promotes significant grade improvements.
I am a great believer that extra one to one session significantly develop pupils’ performance which is the reason I am passionate about online tutoring. This not only enhances their knowledge and examination technique but most importantly improves confidence as my relaxed, visual and informative teaching style relates the content to everyday life situations.
My history in the education sector spans across all tiers of GCSE examinations and most sectors ranging from the independent mixed day and boarding school, independent boys’ and girls’ schools and highly innovative state schools. Having taught A level in 11-18 schools I am able to help pupils gain the foundations needed to bridge the gap between GCSE Higher Tier and the start of the A level course.

Experience: I have extensive experience of teaching Chemistry to GCSE, IGCSE and A level with Physics to GCSE and IGCSE across different exam boards. I am currently teaching Physics GCSE at a good school in Greater Manchester. I have taught in a variety of different settings from independent boarding, single sex independent, mixed independent day and state academies. During the pandemic I devised a focussed online curriculum in KS4 Physics and KS3 Science to give my pupils an online learning experience whether it be a one-to-one support session or a full lesson with a large group of pupils. Since the pandemic, I have significant experience in hybrid or blended learning giving pupils present and pupils at home an outstanding learning experience. More recently I have tried to bridge the with extra morning sessions which are well attended to prepare them for the first public examinations since 2019. Being an examiner for both Chemistry (GCSE, A level) and a current examiner for Physics (GCSE) I am aware of how pupils can overcome common issues and improve their grades using my focussed revision programmes.
