Experience: I started my teaching career 33 years ago and have taught across the key stages in a wide range of Primary schools in the UK and abroad. I have therefore gained substantial experience of working in environments that demand self-motivation and a focused approach .I have the ability to relate effectively to students of diverse cultural backgrounds and ages and am able to tailor teaching methods to suit their individual needs. My experience enables me to establish a purposeful learning environment where diversity is valued and where students’ feel safe, secure and confident
My experience across the key stages includes lesson planning and delivery in line with the national curriculum, marking and feedback, formative and summative assessments, report writing, letters to and progress meetings with parents, newsletter contributions, risk assessments for school trips and maintaining discipline in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy. To ensure that the best possible outcome is achieved for every learner, provision is an integral element and as such the teacher has to ensure that the learning journey is a stimulating and enriching experience. Children need to understand the learning objective and the steps to achieving this. Effective planning should include clear outcomes, differentiation, extension or challenge tasks with clear scaffolds for children who may need support. I use marking and feedback to ensure children are making the desired levels of progress and are working either at or above age expected levels.
