Hello, I’m a practicing interdisciplinary artist and an experienced teacher with my background in painting. I also have professional experience with aspects of graphic design and as a designer/maker of silver and gold jewellery. I am an online tutor, happy to work with you in a variety of subjects and disciplines and will tailor my teaching to suit your needs.

Over the many years, I have enabled students to find new confidence by conquering barriers to learning and I have helped students to create relevant and meaningful work by developing their own unique language and point of view. I am committed to raising the standards of students’ educational achievements balanced with promoting good well-being. I have worked for the past nineteen years in schools and colleges teaching at all key stages in various subjects and have also worked as a lecturer in silver jewellery making and design. I can teach a broad range of disciplines within the field of art and design, as well as the history of art and contextual studies.

School and college
At Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level, I can teach Art and Design, Photography and Graphic Design. I have a very broad subject knowledge and am happy to encourage you to work with a variety of materials, techniques and processes e.g. painting, fashion, textiles, ceramics, printmaking, photography, installation, sculpture, video, animation, Photoshop, graphic design, typography and jewellery making and design. I am interested in helping you to really develop and refine your ideas and your ability to express those ideas both visually and in your written work. I have knowledge of both the Edexcel and AQA GCSE and A Level Art and Design syllabuses. If you are an A level student, I can help you to create and develop an excellent portfolio for access to further and higher education as well as for a vocational setting.

Further and higher education
I can work with students on foundation diploma, undergraduate degree and master’s degree courses, the focus being what ever it is that the learner needs to explore and develop further. I can give tutoring, critique and instruction during our sessions to direct you towards imagining, investigating and communicating your creative ideas. We can look at concepts and theories that are relevant to your work and the historical and contemporary contexts in which you are making your art. I can offer tuition with essays and dissertations and with writing exhibition proposals. I am also happy to teach technical aspects of art making, such as, sourcing and working with specialist materials and experimenting with techniques and processes. I can help you to build and develop your portfolio for access to higher education as well as for a vocational setting. I very much enjoy helping more experienced students to develop their practice and this can include mentoring on the professional aspects of being an artist beyond formal education.

Adult Learning
I can assist adult learners with the technical, formal and conceptual aspects of art, covering most skills, materials and processes. I can teach and advise on how to source materials and tools, how to set up a studio space and specialist techniques, such as: painting with oils, acrylic and watercolour; drawing; collage; mono-printing and cyanotype printing; Photoshop; silver jewellery making and design etc. I can bring my Shiatsu training (three year professional training) and interest in the healing arts to help you to unlock your artistic potential and find the artist within! Whether you want to explore and develop your creativity for self development, or for a change in career or even just purely for fun and relaxation, I can work with you to achieve your goals.

I have nineteen years of experience as a teacher and lecturer. I am a fully qualified secondary education teacher with an Enhanced DBS Certificate. Over the years, I have worked both in schools and colleges teaching within my subject specialist areas of Art and Design, Graphic Design and Photography at GCSE and A level. I have also worked extensively covering other subjects at KS3 and GCSE. I have written and taught silver jewellery making courses for adult education colleges.
