Information about Olivier

I am analytical, break down problems into their basic components which enables students to build their understanding on solid foundations. I enjoy linking concepts and make connections to the real world which brings the subject alive. Why do we learn this? When does it matter? Where does it fit?
Tuition involves assessing existing knowledge and setting clear learning targets over an agreed period of time. Planning, teaching, practice and assessment are part of the journey. I encourage questioning and use visual tools to accelerate and consolidate learning.
I am convinced of the need to keep learning myself and enjoy being kept on my toes by my students! "More is in you, wherever you are now", was my school’s motto and is my message to each student.
I can teach Economics (A-level) and Maths (GCSE).

Availability: I am immediately available and can work any time except Friday and Saturday evenings and Sundays

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I supported my son for his Economics A-level whilst at Latymer Upper School. Due to time constraints we only reviewed specific topics and exam questions. I focused on the understanding of the context, differentiating primary and secondary factors and the coherence of his argumentation. He obtained an "A" grade.
I currently guide my second son through his Economics A-level. He is in U6 at St-Benedict`s.

I tutored my 3 children for their 11+ School Entrance Exams, mostly in Mathematics, plus some (English) grammar and vocabulary. They were offered places in the following schools:
Godolphin and Latymer School, Latymer Upper School, Hampton School, St Benedict`s School and Notting Hill and Ealing School.

Between 2012 and 2014 I volunteered to tutor 2 girls for their French GCSE. They were both very weak at the start, and I focused on structuring the basic knowledge (grammar and vocabulary) they needed to master to be able to progress more independently. At the end of the year they both achieved a "B". They both confirmed my tutoring had been helpful. Teaching took place in the Banks` offices and was part of a programme of The Access Project.
