I’m a 28 year old, with six years full time tuition experience. I have a degree in Education from Roehampton University and recently obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Children’s Literature.
I tutor maths, English, study/exam skills and 11+. I started tutoring six years ago whilst at university and loved it so much it has become my full time occupation. I tutor from the study in my house where children can concentrate and learn without distractions and I have all my resources at hand.
My sessions are child centred, meaning I adapt my teaching style to meet the needs of the individual student. As an educationalist, I believe learning isn’t just about passing exams, but should be an engaging and enjoyable experience in itself. Therefore I make my sessions interactive, encouraging students to try things out, push themselves and even make mistakes so that they can improve and learn. I want every student to leave me feeling they have made progress and have had a positive experience.
I am experienced in working with children as young as five up to adult learners and a wide range of abilities. Parents and students investigate tutoring for many reasons. Many of my students are worried they are falling behind at school and I work with them to help them catch up by following the curriculum and supporting the learning they do in school. Other students may be very bright and feel they need to extend the work they do at school to maintain their interest. Whatever the reason, please get in touch.
I offer a free half hour assessment session where the parent, student and I can get to know each other. During the session I assess the needs of the tutee and create a plan with targets. After this free session you are welcome to book future sessions, but there is no obligation. Sessions are charged at £25 per hour.
I will consider sessions up to three children dependant on subject, age and ability of all involved. I offer a 10% discount when students pay 6 lessons in advance.
