English (adult-learner)
I have taught Key and Functional Skills English, which involves English language and study skills, to a variety of ages and abilities. I have also taught ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) to adults and functional skills ICT (similar to GCSE) to teenage students. I run a literacy blog at tomwcc.wordpress.c o m.
I am a 29 year old teacher of English and ICT at an FE college, where I have worked for 2 years. I passed my Cert Ed and gained qualified teacher status (for lifelong learning sector) this year. This job has enabled me to gain lots of experience working with students whilst training to be a fully qualified teacher.
My methods are learner centred and constructivist in their approach. The student is encouraged to actively engage with the material rather than passively receiving information. By doing this the student will construct their own method of problem solving, with the teacher leading and facilitating this learning through feedback and discussion. I enjoy creating individual learning plans with students which will meet their needs and make the sessions more relevant and worthwhile.
I am a married dad of two (3 and a few months) who enjoys reading, most sports and cooking.
