I am a friendly recently graduate of the University of Oxford in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, where I was awarded a 2:1. Currently I`m working with an MP in Westminster, and in the future am considering academia and politics as possible careers. I am passionate about all my studies, and my tutors commented on my ability to think critically and analytically - a skill most important for the social sciences and maths.
I think that to be successful in the social sciences and in maths, one has to get the core theoretical understanding right first. Very often teachers are keen to rush into questions and application without this, which can lead to confusion. Once students get a hang of the theory, they can be far more confident in applying it to exam conditions.
I will also tutor for preparation for university interviews - in particularly Oxbridge - for economics, philosophy or politics.
Availability: Evenings and weekends
Willing to travel: 12 miles
Experience: As well as tutoring A level politics and degree level economics in paid work, I have tutored several younger students who were struggling with economics at Oxford for their first year exams. I also regularly helped out my peers in all three subjects, and am considered to be a good teacher.
Outside academia, I have previously worked with the 11-14s and 5-6s in Sunday Club at my church.
