English (gcse, degree, adult-learner, a-level)
History (gcse, degree, adult-learner, a-level)
Philosophy (gcse, degree, adult-learner, a-level)
I graduated with a starred double-first from Cambridge University, and have been tutoring since graduation. My degree was in history, but I specialised in cultural, philosophical and literary history, so in fact my education straddled history, English literature and philosophy. I have tutored all three. I am particularly interested in modern and Renaissance drama and poetry, ethics, political thought and the novel. I research everything I teach relentlessly, so that I am a specialist on the subject before I start teaching. Having spent two years performing in comedy shows around Britain (including a sell-out show at the Edinburgh Festival), I also think I have a sense of humour. This is important. I think humour lifts a lesson.
