My name is Simon and I am a graduate from the University of Leeds with a strong 1st class degree in Japanese, Russian and Ukrainian languages. I am also educated in the Spanish language and play the piano to grade 8 level. I have completed my MA in Japanese cultural studies and now I am undertaking a PhD in Japanese focussing on the international reception of modern Japanese popular culture.

Experience: I have taught all three languages, Japanese, Russian and Ukrainian to all levels to various age groups in preparation for exams and or general study for the students own pleasure. I am able to advise on proper essay style for assignments for all levels ranging from primary to university education.

Whilst studying abroad in Japan and Russia as part of my formal studies I taught English as a foreign language in Konan University situated in Kobe, Japan and in Moscow state university in Moscow, thus I am more than prepared and understand the requirements of language learning both from a native speaker level and as a student.

Having lived in both Japan and Russia I am also very aware and competent with colloquial Japanese and Russian language and am prepared to teach both formal language and once a grasp of the language has been achieved I can move onto more colloquial language skills to speak like a true native speaker

I tutor in a relaxed environment tailored to each individual student`s needs and wishes.I will then help the tutee create a work plan, and work through all areas that need attention.

I feel it is important to target the areas in which a student needs and or wishes to improve in so as to boost confidence. Regarding language study, I firmly believe that self confidence is one of the most important aspects to understand so that steps towards fluency can be achieved.

I am friendly, patient and understanding, and appreciate that everyone works at a different pace.
