Information about Shiok
Friendly, patient and here to help. I`m an enthusiastic Maths and 11+ tutor and very experienced across all examination boards. I have successfully tutored pupils for their ISEB pre tests and entrance exams. I believe in focusing on each students specific needs and tackling areas in which the pupil struggles in.
Whether your child is struggling in the technical aspects or lacking exam techniques, I will work with all my students to tailor specific requirements in order for them to achieve their best grade possible, often exceeding their previous attainment by 2 grades.
I have confidence in delivering an enjoyable and educational experience for every pupil in which they are comfortable, engaged and positively challenged.
I have sustained a track record of students securing places at high profile senior schools (via entrance exams) on a yearly basis, such as Herschel Grammar School, Burnham Grammar School, Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School, Royal Grammar School, Reading School, Wellington College, Dr Challoner’s High School and Eton College, to name a few.
Evidently, I have prepared each individual to perform to the best of his or her ability.

Shiok has been fantastic for my two children, really helping them in comprehension and pushing them where they were capable of doing more. She is reliable, really friendly and extremely diligent. My children’s view is that they would not be performing anywhere near the level they are without Shiok’s help and enthusiasm.

Shiok has been helping my son prepare for the 11 plus exam.
She is highly responsive, constantly provides feedback to my son and keeps me updated on progress.
My son has connected really well with Shiok which makes the learning easier for him.
High level of organisation, well prepared and structured lessons/ homework, use of a variety of resources and has adapted her teaching strategies to my son’s learning style.

Shiok has tutored both of our girls for support with 11+ and GCSE. She has raised their academic ability enormously and helped them gain more confidence for their exams. Shiok Chan is a professional, enthusiastic teacher. She is currently helping our son with his 11 plus and we have noticed a big difference in his maths skills.
Having a good tutor is important if you want your child to succeed!

Shiok is a fantastic teacher, very professional and very knowledgeable and very calm and kind with the children. My daughter loved her lessons with Shiok and has made massive progresses in math and the other 11+ subjects under Shiok tuition. Math is a weak subject for my daughter but with Shiok tuition she has even received an award from her school teacher for exceptional progresses in math! Shiok has also always provided very helpful homework and a great work plan for my daughter so that we could integrate the tuition with home work. She has also been very flexible in working out the tuition time to fit with our availability despite her busy schedule. We are very pleased with Shiok and have no hesitation and recommending her a tutor.Thanks for your help, work, support Shiok.. you have even managed to make my daughter love math! :-)

Shiok is an exceptional and reliable tutor who puts are heart and soul in each lesson, she is fully aware of all the changes within the GCSE grading system. Her lesson planning is excellent, my daughter is always fully engaged in what she is being taught she has really grown in confidence in both her maths and science, this is mainly down to Shiok.

Shiok has been helping our daughter for several months now, so I feel confident in giving this feedback.
She is patient with our daughter and has helped to improve her confidence in Maths.
Our daughter also enjoys her sessions and I have seen a definite improvement in her abilities.

Shiok is an excellent tutor. She made huge progress with one of my sons in maths in Year 6, with her tuition he moved from the middle of the B set to near the top of the A set.
She has also coached all three of my children in the ISEB pre-tests which they all passed. Thanks to her help they all have places at one of the most competitive senior schools.
She is diligent and engaging, the children were all happy to see her. She made them work hard and we all saw real progress.
She`s a good communicator and very professional, I would highly recommend her.

Shiok has been brilliant, teaching my son for last 4 months.
