Information about Sharon
I am a qualified primary school teacher with a degree in Early Childhood Studies and Special Needs and Inclusion and PGCE for Primary Teaching. I live in Telford and have 2 sons aged 22 and 25 years. I have a particular interest in special needs as a mother of a disabled child and I understand the importance of giving a child extra support to enable them to progress in their education.
I have an initial meeting with the pupil to discuss needs and assessments. After assessment, lessons are planned using the National Curriculum, Numeracy Framework and Literacy Framework. Work is differentiated to support and challenge the pupil using topics and resources that interest the child. After every lesson I give feed back and discuss the next steps for learning. Appropriate assessments are made at intervals during the year in order to inform how much progress has been made.
I deliver SATS booster lessons and practice papers.
I keep up to date with current educational strategies and issues and attend courses for personal development. I have attended workshops and training for Practical Solutions for Dyslexia by the British Dyslexia Association and have attended local conferences.
I have supported parents with screening and educational psychology assessments by writing reports and attending school meetings with other professionals when requested.
Availability: Daytime, Evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have experience in primary schools, with subject leadership experience in History, Geography, PSHE and Healthy School initiative. I have experience of mentoring student teachers. I have led and administered SATS testing for Key Stage 1 including test assessment. My teaching experience has covered Years 1,2,3 and 4 predominantly and I have delivered one to one tuition for Every Child a Writer programme in Year 3/4 and also for SATS revision in English and Numeracy in Year 5/6. I am able to support pupils in Key Stage 3 (Year 7 and 8) who are achieving levels below national expectations for the age group.

Sharon quickly built up a rapport with our son. She works hard to make the sessions interesting and stimulating. As parents, we are pleased with the results and the time taken to give us feedback/how we can help. We would recommend.
